Plan 02 (Non-Circulating / Jacket)
Why do we use it?
- To denote a seal chamber with no flow (dead ended)
- When the process fluid in the seal chamber must be directly cooled for good seal operation
- When the process fluid in the seal chamber must be heated up for good seal operation
Advantages:
Solids are not continually introduced into the seal chamber, no external hardware is required.
General:
Most commonly used on large bore pumps or hot process pumps utilizing a cooling jacket. The use of a Plan 62 with a steam quench can also provide some additional cooling on hot applications. Success on hot applications depends upon keeping the cooling jacket clean which is prone to fouling.
