John Crane Introduces New High-Pressure Seal Gas Booster Designed to Support Dry Gas Seals on Turbo Compressors

CHICAGO (July 20, 2020) ― John Crane, a global leader in rotating equipment solutions, supplying engineered technologies and services to process industries, today announced the launch of its new high-pressure GCU (Gas Conditioning Unit) Seal Gas Booster designed to support dry gas seals on turbo compressors.

The GCU Seal Gas Booster generates a pressure differential between the supply gas and process gas across the faces to keep the seal faces clean. For any application where external seal gas/alternative seal gas is not available, the booster will provide a reliable, automatically triggered source of clean, dry process gas. In addition, the booster is good match for any installation where API 692 requirements apply, as the necessity for seal gas boosters as best practice is repeatedly noted throughout the standard.

“For more than 30 years, John Crane has delivered high-quality solutions to protect and increase the reliability of dry gas seals,” said John Crane Product Manager Dennis Gardner. “The acquisition of specialist system manufacturers, development of patented gas conditioning units designed to improve the gas seal operational environment, and compliance with the latest industry standards are just a few examples of our dedicated approach.”

Designed with a focus on operational efficiency and reliability, features of the new booster include magnetic coupling, electrical motor power and zero preventive maintenance for up to five years enabling it to run trouble-free between compressor shutdowns.
