Plan 54 (External Barrier/Lubricator)

Why do we use it?

• When an arrangement 3 plan is required
• When the required barrier fluid is more than 10 bar (145 psi) where gas entrainment may be an issue
• When an electrical power supply is available at the pump location
• When a pumping scroll cannot provide sufficient flow to cool the seal
• When high seal leakage or ambient temperature swings prevent use of a vessel/accumulator piping plan
• To supply multiple seals with a single system
• When the shaft speed is too low for a non-contacting gas seal or the process is incompatible with gas injection
