Project Sales Manager Region DACH / Benelux

Jürgen Backes is Project Sales Manager for the DACH/Benelux region at John Crane – a Smiths Group company – with a focus on new energies. With over 25 years of experience in international project management, he brings extensive expertise in implementing complex projects. He is currently supporting strategic energy transition initiatives in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Benelux countries, supporting clients in their transformation to sustainable technologies regarding the JC product portfolio. As a qualified mechanical engineer, Jürgen combines technical expertise with a strong understanding of market-oriented solutions. He lives with his family near Fulda / Germany.

Global Segment Leader for Hydrogen & CCUS at John Crane 

René Leven is the Global Segment Leader for Hydrogen & CCUS at John Crane (a member of Smiths Group). He is an accomplished Energy Transition strategist and has extensive experience advising clients in the field of process automation and flow control on complex capital projects in the energy and process industries. Over the last 15 years, Rene has been involved in Energy Transition related topics such as energy management systems, process efficiency optimization, renewable energy projects and, in the past four years, Hydrogen and CCUS projects and applications. Rene has an M.Sc. in Sales Engineering and Product Management from the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany, had lived and worked in Tokyo, Japan and the Asia-Pacific Region for 10 years and currently resides in the United Kingdom. 

Andreas Klingebiel

Senior Business Development Manager Filtration, Europe  

Andreas Klingebiel is the senior BDM for Filtration in Europe at John Crane (a member of Smiths Group) heading a team of experienced BDM’s to support development and sales for the filtration portfolio. Based in central Germany he provides support for the internal and external clients as a product and process matter expert. With his engineering Diploma in Environmental and Hygiene Technologies his focus is on technological processes to support John Crane clients. 

From seal gas filtration, classic liquid and process filters to pharmaceutical and polymer melt filtration he has been promoting and realizing projects for Seebach GmbH and John Crane since nearly 15 years and focusses on Hydrogen, CCUS and marine fuel treatment.  

Robert Airey

Robert Airey 

Energy Transition Commercial Manager 

Robert Airey is John Crane’s newly appointed global Commercial Manager for the energy transition revolution. Having worked in the clean tech space for the past 7 years, Robert has been involved in global corporate strategies to standardise adopted technologies and increase the speed of deployment. Robert’s background covers green sector balance of plant technologies from generation to end use, and now joining John Crane his scope includes additional process filtration, improvement in flow efficiencies and fugitive emission reductions.

Regional Manager for Service Solutions in Europe

Jérôme is the Regional Manager for Service Solutions in Europe at John Crane. He has an extensive and multidisciplinary experience in technics, reliability programs, sales and services. Over the last 35 years, Jérôme has been involved in many different roles such as Drawing Office & Technical Manager, Service Centre Manager, Reliability Contract Manager, End-Users Sales Representative, and now as the Regional Manager, Service Solutions for Europe.

Jérôme has a master’s degree in management from the Caen University in France.
