CHICAGO (Nov. 17, 2014) – John Crane has launched “Engineering U,” a new accelerated career development program for promising entry-level mechanical engineers. The first 12-month U.S.-based pilot program is underway and recruitment for additional U.S. programs is ongoing. The company intends to implement Engineering U at its global research and development centers in the U.K. and China, as well.
Engineering U allows recent university graduates to jump-start their careers by completing a structured curriculum that exposes them to a variety of engineering specialties and several other functions across the business. Each participant will also be able to gain on-the-job experience while working with tenured engineers and will be eligible for post-program career placement in critical roles across the company.
Duncan Gillis, President and CEO of John Crane, said: “Through this program, we aim to attract future engineering leaders. Energy services customers have extremely challenging problems that our engineers are tasked with solving through pioneering the latest technologies or inventing new technology. They play an important role in helping our customers safely and efficiently supply energy all over the world.”
The company is currently reviewing U.S. student applicants, each of whom will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in spring 2015. This is an opportunity to join a strong workforce of talented engineers with a global industry leader in the growing energy industry.
